There's No Place Like The Mournes Wood Sign

The sight of the bright yellow gorse flowers, with the instantly recognisable mountain silhouette, reminds us there really is no place quite like the Mournes.

Also known locally as whin bushes, gorse has many, many uses.  Ask the locals and they'll likely remember at some point in their childhood dying their eggs at Easter with the flowers.  Ask any forager and I'll bet they will have a gorse recipe or two... with it's subtle coconut scent, add a yellow pop to your summer salad or make your own gorse flower syrup, gorse honey, gorse cordial, gorse wine or even gorse gin to name just a few.

Each piece is designed by Lisa right here at the foot of the Mournes in Newcastle, County Down, and is printed on local responsibly sourced wood by her husband Phillip using traditional screen printing methods!
The total measurement of each piece may vary slightly but will measure approximately 26,5cm by 26,5cm and are both freestanding and ready to hang simply using a nail or screw. Please note that due to the colour, nature and character of wood and each picture being made to order, every finished piece will again vary slightly from the picture shown, making each purchase unique.
